Find out how porcelain veneers could turn your imperfect smile into a perfect one.

Ever wonder how all of your favorite celebrities seem to have the perfect smiles? Well, chances are pretty good that their teeth are that perfect thanks to cosmetic dentistry! After all, many people turn to dental veneers when they are dealing with widespread flaws that affect the shape, color, or overall appearance of their teeth, and you can, too.

Read on to learn more about what dental veneers can do for you, and contact our Dayton, OH, dentists, Drs. James and Jamie Shepler, to schedule a cosmetic dentistry consultation.

What are dental veneers?

Just as you can cover up cracked, yellowing, and unsightly nails with beautiful facades, you can also do the same thing for your teeth thanks to veneers. These mega-thin porcelain shells are custom-made to fit the exact shape and measurements of your teeth, in order to cover the front surface of your smile and obscure any aesthetic flaws.

What issues can dental veneers treat?

Whether you hate those severe discolorations from years of smoking, that gap in your front teeth, or that slightly crooked tooth that seems to stick out whenever you smile, all of these issues and more can be hidden from view when our Dayton, OH, dentist places porcelain veneers. You may be right for veneers if you are looking for a cosmetic restoration that hides:

  • Discolorations and severe stains
  • Chips and cracks
  • Misshapen or unevenly shaped teeth
  • Teeth that are too short or “gummy smiles”
  • Teeth that are slightly crooked, gapping, or crowding

How long will it take to get veneers?

Most people can get veneers in as little as two visits to our office. During the first visit, we will remove some enamel from the front of your teeth to make room for your veneers. Next, we will take impressions of your teeth to send to a dental lab, which can take anywhere from 2-4 weeks to make your permanent restorations.

Once your veneers are made, you’ll come back into our office to check the fit and look of your veneers before bonding them permanently to your teeth.

How long do veneers last?

If you want your veneers to last a long time, then it’s important that you properly care for them and also continue to floss and brush regularly to prevent health problems from occurring. After all, with the proper care, veneers can last up to 20 years or more before needing to be replaced!
